This study was conducted with the aim of determining how the externalities of area revitalization and working capital affect the income of street vendors in Tepian Teratai, Tanjung Redeb District. The study uses a quantitative approach derived from primary data collected directly from street vendors in Tepian Teratai, using the multiple linear regression analysis method with instrument testing using SPSS 25. The results of the study found that the externalities of area revitalization do not have a significant impact on income, while working capital has a positive and significant effect on street vendors' income in Tepian Teratai. However, simultaneously, the variables of area revitalization externalities and working capital have a positive and significant effect on the income of street vendors in Tepian Teratai, Tanjung Redeb District.
Karisma Karisma

https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1238

This study aims to analyze tourism sector development in Kampung Sukan Tengah, Sambaliung District, Berau Regency. It employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research informants included the Village Head, the Head of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), the Head of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes), and local community members. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that tourism development has not yet reached its full potential due to constraints regarding infrastructure, human resource quality, and institutional aspects. Road access and supporting facilities require improvement, tourism management personnel need further training, and inter-institutional coordination remains suboptimal. Tourism development requires synergy among the village government, Pokdarwis, BUMDes, and the community to ensure that tourism potential is developed sustainably and yields economic benefits for local residents.
Meliana Karin

This study aims to analyze the effect of land area and selling price on the income of oil palm farmers in Harapan Jaya Village, Segah District, Berau Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consisted of oil palm farmers in Harapan Jaya Village, while the sample comprised 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 25. The results indicate that, partially, land area has a positive and significant effect on farmers' income, whereas the selling price does not have a significant effect on farmers' income. Simultaneously, land area and selling price have a significant effect on the income of oil palm farmers in Harapan Jaya Village. These findings suggest that land area is the dominant factor influencing farmers' income, while the selling price tends to fluctuate and does not significantly affect income when analyzed individually.
Husnaini Husnaini

The development of local food resources is increasingly recognised as a strategic pathway for strengthening food security while simultaneously enhancing the economic value generated by village-based communities. In Berau Regency, food resources originating from the agricultural, plantation, and fisheries sectors require a branding strategy capable of establishing product identity, enhancing consumer appeal, and broadening market access. Branding, however, cannot be confined to promotional activities and packaging design; rather, it must be embedded within a broader framework encompassing quality improvement, processing, institutional strengthening, and production sustainability. Accordingly, this study seeks to formulate a branding model for local food products as a strategy for reinforcing village-based food security in Berau Regency. Adopting a qualitative descriptive design grounded in secondary data, the study draws upon a systematic review and analysis of official documents, statistical publications, regulatory instruments, program reports, and pertinent scholarly literature. The analysis integrates three techniques: descriptive statistics to map commodity potential, documentary content analysis to identify relevant policies and dimensions of local food development, and SWOT analysis to derive alternative strategic options. The synthesis reveals that local food branding may function as a mediating instrument that connects production potential, value addition, the consolidation of regional identity, and market expansion. The proposed model comprises six interrelated components: mapping of food potential, selection of flagship products, development of brand identity and quality standards, strengthening of production and institutional capacity, expansion of market access, and evaluation of economic benefits and contributions to food security. The study concludes that branding can operate as a complementary strategy for strengthening village-based food security, provided that it is implemented in an integrated and sustainable manner. Given its conceptual nature, the model warrants further validation through empirical investigation.
Ira Indriani

This study analyzes the effect of tourism village development in Derawan Island on household income, job opportunities, and local business diversification. Utilizing a causal quantitative approach with 50 households as samples, data were analyzed through multiple linear regression in SPSS 25. The results show that tourism village development has a positive and significant effect on all three variables, both partially and simultaneously. The largest contribution is found in household income (R2 = 52.1%), followed by business diversification (43.6%), and job opportunities (32.5%). However, development is still hindered by benefit distribution inequality, environmental degradation, limited HR capacity, and sub-optimal supporting infrastructure.
Pipi Agustia

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) in children is usually judged by treatment success, yet its effects on nutrition, growth and education shape long-term human capital. Evidence on these effects in Indonesia remains limited. Aim: To analyse the impact of childhood TB on nutritional status, linear growth and school participation in Berau Regency, Indonesia. Methods: This matched comparative cohort study included 250 children aged 0 to 14 years who started treatment for drug-susceptible TB and 250 children without TB, matched by age, sex and area of residence. Outcomes were measured more than 6 months after treatment initiation and analysed using linear mixed models, modified Poisson regression and negative binomial regression. Results: Compared with their matched peers, children with a history of TB had a height-for-age z-score that was 0.63 lower (95% CI −0.81 to −0.45), a 2.41-fold higher prevalence of stunting (95% CI 1.68 to 3.48) and 2.12 times as many days absent from school (95% CI 1.74 to 2.60). Nutritional status improved during treatment, but the height deficit persisted. Conclusions: Childhood TB is associated with losses in human capital that extend beyond the treatment period. TB programmes should be integrated with nutritional support, growth monitoring

and help for children returning to school.
Andy Nuriyanto

Seasonal changes in fishing activities are one of the main factors affecting fishermen's livelihoods and income. Unpredictable weather conditions lead to fluctuations in fish catches, resulting in unstable household incomes among coastal communities. This study aims to analyze the economic adaptation strategies employed by fishermen in response to seasonal changes in fishing activities and to examine these strategies from the perspective of the Blue Economy. This research employed a qualitative approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques involving five informants consisting of fishermen, fishermen's wives, and the head of the fishermen's group in Teluk Sulaiman Village. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that seasonal changes reduce fishing frequency, decrease fish catches, and significantly lower fishermen's incomes, particularly during the lean fishing season. To maintain household economic resilience, fishermen implement several adaptation strategies, including livelihood diversification through marine tourism activities, working as laborers or carpenters, modifying fishing gear, adjusting fishing schedules, utilizing marine resources more efficiently, and strengthening social networks through cooperation with family members and fishermen's groups. These adaptation strategies are consistent with the principles of the Blue Economy, emphasizing sustainable marine resource utilization, environmental conservation, economic efficiency, and the improvement of coastal community welfare. Therefore, economic adaptation strategies play an important role in strengthening fishermen's economic resilience amid seasonal changes in fishing activities.
Rani Rani
