However, this potential has not been matched by an effective branding communication strategy, causing local products to struggle in competing with similar products from other regions. Objective: This study aims to examine the branding communication strategy of regional flagship products in strengthening the SME economy in Berau Regency, employing a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation involving SME actors, the Department of Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade, and consumers as triangulation informants, with data analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. Results: The findings reveal that the branding communication strategies implemented by SME actors remain partial, marked by weak brand storytelling, inconsistent visual identity, reliance on conventional promotional channels, and limited government assistance in branding development. Conclusion: The gap between good product quality and weak branding communication strategy is the main factor behind the low competitiveness of local products, indicating the need to integrate communication strategies grounded in local narratives, strengthen visual identity, optimize digital media, and foster synergy between local government and SME actors to promote sustainable regional economic development.
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1166 PENGARUH EKONOMI KREATIF DAN SEKTOR PARIWISATA TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI KABUPATEN BERAU 2026-07-07T10:44:07+08:00 ELSA MAULIDIA elsamaulidia295@gmail.com
Background: Economic growth is a key indicator of regional development success, reflected in the increase of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). In the modern era, the creative economy plays an important role in supporting the tourism sector through human resource innovation and creativity, while tourism serves as a strategic sector capable of raising community income and welfare. Berau Regency holds substantial potential in both sectors, yet their empirical contribution to regional economic growth has rarely been studied. Objective: This study aims to determine the partial and simultaneous effects of the creative economy and the tourism sector on economic growth in Berau Regency. Method: The method used is multiple linear regression analysis with time series data from 2014–2023 (N=10) obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), using a saturated sampling technique. The classical assumption tests confirm the regression model is free from multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation. Results: The results show that the GRDP of the creative economy has a positive and significant partial effect on economic growth, while the number of tourist visits has a positive but not significant partial effect. Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect economic growth, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.959 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.920, indicating that 92% of the variation in economic growth is explained by the two variables. Conclusion: It is concluded that the creative economy and tourism sector should be developed in an integrated manner to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Berau Regency.
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1167 PENGARUH FAKTOR EKONOMI MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI EKONOMI PEMBANGUNAN UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH BERAU DAN HARGA TERHADAP PERMINTAAN BARANG DI TIKTOK SHOP 2026-07-07T10:50:07+08:00 MEDYANA AYU KARTIKA ayukartikadrg@gmail.com
Background: The rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia, driven by a large internet user base, has positioned TikTok Shop as a popular online shopping platform that integrates entertainment and interactive purchasing. The Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP Kuliah) program was introduced by the Indonesian government to expand access to higher education for economically disadvantaged students with strong academic potential. This study aims to analyze the role of the KIP Kuliah program in human capital investment and the equalization of higher education access in Berau Regency, focusing on students of the Development Economics Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Berau. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with eight KIP Kuliah recipients and one supporting informant, complemented by participatory observation and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model supported by source and technique triangulation. The findings show that most recipients come from low-income families and highly depend on KIP Kuliah to pursue higher education. The program serves as an enabling factor that opens access to higher education, supports student retention through tuition fee waivers and living allowances, improves students' economic well-being through more structured financial management, and enhances motivation and psychological security as part of human capital development. However, challenges remain, including delays in fund disbursement, a mismatch between the living allowance and actual regional living costs, and the need for stricter recipient verification. The study recommends periodic adjustment of living allowances to regional cost-of-living indices, strengthening of academic mentoring, and improved financial literacy among recipients to optimize the program's long-term contribution to human capital development and educational equity.
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1169 ANALISIS PERAN HASIL HUTAN BUKAN KAYU TERHADAP PENINGKATAN PENDAPATAN MASYARAKAT KAMPUNG PESAYAN, KABUPATEN BERAU, KALIMANTAN TIMUR 2026-07-07T11:01:10+08:00 RIZKI GUNAWAN fadelan88@yahoo.co.id
Forests provide significant economic value for communities living around them, particularly through non-timber forest products (NTFPs) such as honey, fruits, resin, and medicinal plants, which can be harvested sustainably without cutting down trees. In Kampung Pesayan, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, local communities rely heavily on NTFPs, especially stingless bee (kelulut) honey, as a supplementary source of household income. This study aims to analyze the role of non-timber forest products in increasing community income in Kampung Pesayan. A quantitative approach was employed using a simple linear regression method, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 47 NTFP farmers selected using a saturated sampling technique. The results show a regression equation of Y = 6.799 + 0.443X, indicating a positive relationship between NTFP utilization and community income. The t-test results reveal a t-count value of 2.911, greater than the t-table value of 2.014, with a significance value of 0.006, smaller than 0.05. These findings confirm that non-timber forest products have a positive and significant partial effect on increasing community income in Kampung Pesayan. Kelulut honey, in particular, contributes approximately 30–50% of total household income while also supporting forest sustainability through environmentally friendly harvesting practices. The study concludes that NTFPs serve as both an economic livelihood strategy and a conservation instrument for the community, and recommends farmer capacity building, institutional strengthening, market development, ecosystem protection, and government support to optimize the long-term contribution of NTFPs to community welfare and forest sustainability.
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1170 EFEKTIVITAS IMPLEMENTASI PROGRAM SEKOLAH RAMAH ANAK (SRA) DAN KONTRIBUSINYA TERHADAP PEMBANGUNAN EKONOMI BERKELANJUTAN DI KABUPATEN BERAU 2026-07-07T11:07:20+08:00 NANCY APRILIANTY AJANG nancy.pakolo04@gmail.com
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Child-Friendly School (Sekolah Ramah Anak/SRA) program in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, and analyzes its contribution to sustainable economic development. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 27 respondents (principals, teachers, students, and parents) at the kindergarten/early childhood education, elementary, and junior high school levels through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The quantitative results show that SRA implementation in Berau Regency is fairly effective, with the highest success rate at the junior high school level (84.07%), followed by kindergarten/early childhood education (81.11%) and elementary school (80.00%). Most SRA indicators, such as a safe, clean, and inclusive learning environment, have been well implemented. However, the study also identifies notable challenges, including limited School Health Unit (UKS) facilities, a lack of special programs for children with special needs, and variation in teachers' understanding of positive discipline. Qualitatively, SRA has proven instrumental in shaping students' character, instilling positive values such as cleanliness, tolerance, and cooperation, and developing 21st-century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. This contribution directly supports the improvement of human resource quality and the strengthening of the local economy through community collaboration. These findings confirm that SRA implementation aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), positioning it as a long-term strategic investment for sustainable regional development.
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1171 PENGARUH DIVERSIFIKASI SUMBER PENDAPATAN TERHADAP KETAHANAN EKONOMI KELUARGA PETANI DI KAMPUNG MERANCANG ULU 2026-07-07T11:12:23+08:00 RESTI AYU SAFITRI restiayusafitri1@gmail.com
Agriculture remains the main source of livelihood for a large share of Indonesia's rural population, yet farming households are highly exposed to income risks such as commodity price fluctuations, climate variability, crop failure, and limited access to markets and capital. Income diversification is widely regarded as a coping strategy to reduce this vulnerability, although its actual effect on household welfare varies across contexts. This study examines the effect of income source diversification on the economic resilience of farming families in Kampung Merancang Ulu, Berau Regency. Using a quantitative approach, primary data were collected through questionnaires from 72 respondents selected through a saturated sampling technique, and analyzed using simple linear regression, Pearson product-moment correlation, and t-test with the aid of SPSS. The results show a regression equation of Y = 18.535 − 0.165X, indicating that income diversification has a negative and statistically significant effect on family economic resilience (t = −3.353; sig. = 0.001 < 0.05), with a Pearson correlation coefficient of −0.372, reflecting a weak-to-moderate negative relationship. These findings suggest that diversification practiced by farmers in Kampung Merancang Ulu remains largely subsistence-oriented, undertaken mainly as supplementary work without adequate capital, technology, or skills, and therefore adds to household labor burden rather than improving welfare. The study concludes that income diversification is only effective as a resilience strategy when supported by external factors such as market access, training, capital assistance, and appropriate government policy, and recommends capacity building, continued extension services, and access to financing to help farming households diversify more strategically and sustainably
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1172 MAPPING CUSTOMARY SPATIAL STRUCTURE FOR SPATIAL PLANNING INTEGRATION IN THE MERATUS GEOPARK 2026-07-07T11:16:21+08:00 MUHAMMAD MALIKI m.maliki7766@gmail.com
Geopark management increasingly requires approaches that connect landscape conservation with the spatial systems embedded in local communities. In the Meratus Geopark, this issue is particularly important because several customary territories have recently obtained formal legal recognition, while their spatial structures remain only weakly translated into formal spatial planning frameworks. This study aims to identify and map the customary spatial structure of four formally recognized customary law communities in Loksado District and to assess its relevance as an initial basis for spatial integration in the Meratus Geopark. The research adopts a qualitative comparative case study design, grounded in document analysis and spatial interpretation. Data were drawn from four decrees of the Regent of Hulu Sungai Selatan and their appendices, which contain profiles of customary territories, customary spatial categories, land tenure and access arrangements, customary institutions, and customary maps. The analysis combined structured data extraction, qualitative content analysis, cross-case comparison, and the translation of customary spatial categories into planning-relevant spatial functions. The results show that the four customary territories contain internally differentiated spatial categories that consistently correspond to protective, productive, transitional, settlement, and sacred functions, and in some cases to water-related functions. The study contributes an analytical bridge between the formal recognition of customary territories and more context-sensitive spatial integration in the Meratus Geopark
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1176 EKSPLORASI PERSEPSI PUBLIK TERHADAP ANCAMAN KECERDASAN BUATAN PADA EKSISTENSI TENAGA KERJA: Studi Netnografi Diskusi Youtube 2026-07-13T11:07:37+08:00 Suyitno yitnomasdar@gmail.com
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a highly influential technology in the transformation of the world of work, bringing significant changes to the job structure and skills needed in various sectors. This study aims to explore the public perception of the threat posed by AI to the existence of the workforce, focusing on analyzing public discussions on the YouTube platform through a netnography approach. The results show a tension between optimism about AI's potential to improve efficiency and concerns about its negative impact on human work. Most respondents expressed the view that AI can replace routine work, but also create new opportunities that require technical skills and adaptation. This difference in perception is also influenced by the level of knowledge and experience of users towards technology. The study emphasizes the importance of retraining and skills development policies to ensure the workforce can adapt to the changes brought about by AI. It also found that inequality in access to technology and inequality in the distribution of AI benefits can exacerbate social and economic disparities between developed and developing countries.
2026-07-14T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal https://jurnal-umberau.com/index.php/ecobuild/article/view/1177 PENGARUH INDEKS PEMBANGUNAN MANUSIA (IPM) DAN TINGKAT PENGANGGURAN TERHADAP KEMISKINAN DI KABUPATEN BERAU 2026-07-14T10:48:08+08:00 Hartono hartonoae6@gmail.com
The purpose of this study based on the formulation of the problem is to determine the effect of the Human Development Index (HDI) and unemployment rate partially and simultaneously on poverty in Berau Regency. The secondary data used are time series data of HDI, unemployment, and poverty taken from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Berau Regency for the period 2017-2022. The analytical tools used are: classical assumption test (normality test, autocorrelation test, multicollinearity test, heteroscedasticity test), multiple linear regression analysis, correlation coefficient, determination coefficient, t test, and F test. The conclusions obtained from this study are: 1) The Human Development Index (HDI) has a negative and partially significant effect on the poverty rate in Berau Regency. This is evidenced by the t-count value which is smaller than the minus t-table value (-10.356 < -3.183) with a significance value less than the probability value (0.002 < 0.05); 2) The unemployment rate has a positive and partially significant effect on the poverty rate in Berau Regency. This is based on the t-count value which is greater than the t-table value (9.572 > 3.183) with a significance value smaller than the probability value (0.002 < 0.05); 3) The Human Development Index (HDI) and the unemployment rate have a simultaneous significant effect on poverty in Berau Regency. Proven by the F test where the F-count value is greater than the F-table (60.759 > 9.55) with a significance value smaller than the probability value (0.004 < 0.05).
2026-04-05T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2026 ECO-BUILD; Economy Bring Ultimate Information All About Development Journal
